God’s dream home!

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 14:1-4
“My Father’s house has many rooms…” (John 14:2)
‘My Father’s house’ is another way of saying God’s family.
God created a family to live in His ‘very good’ creation.
He prepared this place (creation) for us, but we ruined it.
God sends Jesus to repair and prepare this place for us.
There are many rooms, meaning there is room for everyone.
God’s family dream is not for one nation or group, but for all nations.
He chose Abraham to bless the nations, not just his own family (Genesis 12:1-3).
He sent Jesus for all sheep, not just David’s sheep (John 10:16).
“I am going there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)
Jesus is prepare God’s world for us, and us for God’s world.
The Spirit is restoring creation, and us, to be God’s dream home.
That dream, also seen by MLK, will include all colours and races.
Do we share Jesus’ passion for God’s house for all nations?
Are we preparing for the new world, by loving all peoples today?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, what a dream, what a hope. Thank You for preparing this place for me. Help me to prepare for this dream home too by how I welcome and love others.

  1. A house with many rooms. Rooms for all, A place of safety and security and fellowship and joy and happiness. Living with Jesus. That is the possibility and promise to all who believe. And in the meantime, looking forward to that home but living as an instrument of His peace today among the people’s of the world building His kingdom – living for Jesus daily.

I don’t know where you lay your head
Or where you call your home
I don’t know where you eat your meals
Or where you talk on the phone
I don’t know if you got a cook
    A butler or a maid
I don’t know if you got a yard
With a hammock in the shade

I don’t know if you got some shelter
    Say a place to hide
I don’t know if you live with friends
    In whom you can confide
I don’t know if you got a family
    Say a mom or dad
I don’t know if you feel love at all
But I bet you wish you had

    Come and go with me
    To my Father’s house
    Come and go with me
    To my Father’s house

    It’s a big big house
With lots and lots a room
    A big big table
With lots and lots of food
    A big big yard
    Where we can play football
    A big big house
    Its my Father’s house
