Living for good with confidence!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 125
“The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land…” (Psalm 125:3)
As a follower of Jesus, I believe that all creation belongs to God.
God created all things and made humans responsible to rule it for God.
But humans rebelled by listening to the Deceiver, and things went bad.
The land allotted for the righteous was subjected to evil.
The OT Jews focused on the promised land of Canaan.
But the land was a symbol of God’s purpose for all creation.
One day all creation would be liberated as well (Romans 8:20-21).
For that to happen, a human needed to crush the serpent (Genesis 3:15).
Jesus is the promised serpent-crusher, and curse-ender.
In Him we are restored as God’s children, and the scepter is restored.
As followers of Jesus, we are engaged in the battle of good over evil.
We are working with Jesus to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
Even though evil remains for the moment, it’s days are numbered.
Do you go into each day living for God and for good with this confidence?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, grant me the confidence in You that I may do good with You, like You, for You, knowing that one day evil will be defeated!

  1. Those who trust in the Lord are safe and secure. Jerusalem is the symbol of the place where God dwelt among His people. When we are with the Lord, by His side we are secure.
As the mountains surrounded Jerusalem, so too the Lord surrounds His people. He is my protector. He goes before me, behind me, beside me – He surrounds me on every side.
In Him I am secure not only for today but also for all my tomorrows. I can do good for God is good to those who do good. Safe and secure am I in His arms.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring.
Glory in the highest I will shout and sing
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail.
By the living word of God I shall prevail.
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior.
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God.
