I want to LIVE!

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 8:21-30
“If you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.” (John 8:24)
When Adam and Eve turned from God, humanity came under the curse of death.
Death is the new normal, and the life we were made for is beyond us.
God promised a child of Eve to one day crush the serpent (Genesis 3:15).
Humanity has been needing this human savior from God ever since.
Jesus is that promised savior, Who rescues us from sin and death.
He does this by refusing sin and Satan’s lies, doing only what pleases God.
The curse of death cannot hold Him down – there’s no sin to hold on to.
Jesus is not being mean here, He is pleading with them to listen.
The Spirit of Jesus continues to plead with us to see our need for Jesus.
He brings us face to face with our weakness, our desperate need for help.
Jesus has shown me my sinful, selfish heart, and I know my need for Him.
Will we, like these religious leaders, refuse to listen and believe?
Hear His heart, see His love, respond to His pleading to come to Him for real life!
Forget religion, forget church… just look at Jesus – He’s the one you need!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I do not want my life to end in this current sinful, selfish state. I long to be free with You, like You, for You! Help me to experience new life in You – freedom from the guilt and grip of sin!

  1. Being lifted up.
    Christ was lifted up and returned home – to His Father.
    In the desert wanderings, the bronze serpent was lifted up pointing to Christ Jesus and all who put their eyes on the bronze serpent lived. The serpent pointed to Christ who overcame and gave life to all who believed.
    I too need to put my eyes on Jesus – o believe in Him and to walk in His Way. The joy of the Lord God is my strength from day to day.
    Lord Jesus come into my heart so that all what I do and say may be God honouring – living for Jesus.

    O soul, are you weary and troubled?
    No light in the darkness you see?
    There’s light for a look at the Savior,
    And life more abundant and free.
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
    Look full in His wonderful face,
    And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
    In the light of His glory and grace.

    Through death into life everlasting
    He passed, and we follow Him there;
    O’er us sin no more hath dominion
    For more than conqu’rors we are!

    His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
    Believe Him and all will be well;
    Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!
