God’s timing

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 7:1-13
“My time is not yet here; for you any time will do.” (John 7:6)
I think of these words when I am ask God to do something.
‘Answer me now, Lord, heal me now, fix my problem now…’
We are not thinking of timing, or even what is best over all.
I may want it now, but is that really for the best?
God is not just juggling my life and my needs.
God is managing the affairs of the world – past, present, future.
What God does (or does not do) now will have implications for the many.
Jesus came at the right time, even though it was after centuries of waiting.
For us, any time will do, but God can only act at the right time.
The right time for God is not arbitrary or without concern for us.
In fact, everything that happens, happens in His timing, for His purpose.
And His purpose is to make us, and creation, ‘very good’ again.
Jesus came at the right time, died at the right time, rose at the right time.
Can I trust that Jesus will ‘show up’ at the right time in my prayer life?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your time and my time are definitely different. Help me to trust You that the right time for You is the best time for me, for all!

  1. What is on the inside needs to come out.
Being a follower of the lamb must also be visible in what I say and do. Others need to see the love of God within me by the way I live.
    Live for Jesus.
    Words and actions go together.
They will see that we/I am Christian by our love – living out my faith from day to day.
Spirit of the living God, lead and guide me each day anew to live for Him.

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other, we will work side by side
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
And we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love
