THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 22:24-30
“I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me.” (Luke 22:29)
As Creator, God is the ultimate King over all creation.
This has never been in dispute, God has never not been King.
But God designed His kingdom to be ruled in specific way (Genesis 1:26-28).
He conferred His creation kingdom to God-like human beings.
By listening to Satan and following his ways, humans gave their loyalty to him.
They turned God’s kingdom of light into a dominion of darkness.
They ruled selfishly, cruelly, violently, lording over others in evil ways.
Jesus is the first human since Adam and Eve to act in a God-like way.
But unlike Adam and Eve, Jesus does not give in to Satan’s temptations.
Because Jesus lives, loves and leads like God, God confers on Him the kingdom.
Here Jesus urges us to follow Him, not Satan, in leading like God.
Already here and now, by grace, God’s kingdom is conferred on us.
As we live, love and lead in the character of God, God’s kingdom comes.
But if we want to lead like Jesus (like God), we must love and serve like Jesus.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have conferred on me the right to rule with You, like You, for You. Help me to see how to do this in my day to day relations with others.
Jesus, the Servant.
Jesus came to serve.
Those of His kingdom must do the same – serve Him and those He loves.
A good steward using his talents for his Master.
Help me this day Lord to be Your servant true.
Make me a servant
Humble and meek
Lord let me lift up
Those who are weak
And may the prayer
Of my heart always be
Make me a servant
Make me a servant
Make me a servant today
