Prone to wander…

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 13:31-35
“As a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” (Luke 13:34)
Jesus knew he was going to suffer and die, and He knew He had no choice.
He also knew WHY He had to suffer and die, because of our unwillingness.
Unwilling to come to our senses or to change, unwilling to admit guilt.
Jesus’ words here express the heart of God, His desire to protect us.
He will cover you with his feathers, under his wings you will find refuge.”(Psalm 91:4)
So why do we hesitate, why do we hold back on God?
The sad thing is that life away from God is not better.
Our world has become a dangerous, deadly place to be without God.
But this passage also shows how God comes to us when we avoid Him.
He does not give up on us when we hold back, He gives His all for us.
In Jesus we see the length that God will go to protect us from our own folly.
This is encouraging for me when I think of my own times of wandering.
This is also encouraging when I think of loved ones who are wandering.
If I pull away from God today, may I see Jesus with tears reaching out to me.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You love me, and You do not give up on me. May this come to mind when I am tempted to forget or avoid You.
