The promised one!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 9:18-20
“Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, ‘God’s Messiah.'” (Luke 9:20)
The Jews were eagerly anticipating the coming of God’s promised messiah.
The One that would rescue them from bondage and restore their fortunes.
God’s anointed one (‘messiah’ in Hebrew, ‘christ’ in Greek).
Anointed with power, appointed to set things right and straight.
Hope for a ‘messiah’ is not uncommon among the world religions.
Some see this as proof it is not true, just a common human fantasy.
But you could just as well argue that it proves our common need for help.
We need help – divine help – to rescue us from our folly and misery.
Look at us, look at how humanity is screwing up the world!
If it were not for God and Jesus, I believe we would be doomed.
The Jesus Way of loving and living is the only way Satan’s curse can be lifted.
Jesus refused to play Satan’s game and won; through Jesus, love has triumphed.
My hope is in Jesus and the Jesus Way, not in the church or christianity.
Who do YOU say that He is?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, believing in You is not an escape or an excuse to do nothing. It is a commitment to life and to love for all people. May my life and love bring hope, just as Your does!

  1. Prayer – an important ingredient of Christ’s life. In tune with the Father doing His will. And the disciples were with Him being taught who He was and how to pray.
    Who is this Jesus?
I too must respond like Peter or like Thomas – my Lord and my God – God’s Messiah – come to rescue His people from sin and death for life everlasting. To Him I need to surrender all.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
