As a Jesus follower, I am committed to living LIKE Jesus in the details of my life.
Not just being religious (going to church, praying before meals, reading bible, etc.
Following Jesus is about how you spend money, how I treat my spouse.
How I handle disagreements, how I respond to a health concern.
It is in the ordinary daily details – whatever I do – as I seek to live LIKE Jesus.

Obviously, we can’t know exactly what Jesus would do in any and every situation.
But we can make a good guess in the right direction, if we think of how he lived.
We know how he was gracious, gentle, loving, kind, compassionate, merciful, forgiving.
We know how he denied Himself for the sake of God and others.
We know that he was patient, kind, not easily angered, etc. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
So what would these God-like qualities look like in my particular situations?

When someone cuts in front of me at the store, or on the highway?
When someone at work or church is being difficult or inconsiderate?
When someone close to me disagrees with me, or is angry at me?
When someone in need crosses my path, or asks for help, or needs help but doesn’t ask?
When my boss asks me to do something that is deceitful or improper?
When something at church is bothering or upsetting me?
When the speaker at church says something I disagree with?
When someone accuses me of doing something wrong, and they’re partly right.
When your child chooses a way of life that goes against your values or beliefs.
When the doctor tells me its cancer.
When I struggling with a cross I would rather not endure…

I could go on forever, we face unique situations every day.
If we are following Jesus, we are learning with Him how to handle these situations.
Through prayer we wrestle with Him, through scripture, with the Spirit, to know His way.
If we are listening, we can get a sense of some possible Jesus-like ways to respond.
Every day, in the ordinary details, Jesus invites us to live, love and lead like Him.

This is not an easy way to live, but it is a good way to live.
Jesus will help us, if we allow Him to.
His family (the church, other Jesus followers) can also help you, if you want.
But this is the important question:
Do I really want to live LIKE Jesus in the daily details of my life?
