THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 70
“I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God.” (Psalm 70:5)
Though I am not going through the same issue, I can relate.
As a deeply relfective person, I am painfully aware of my weaknesses.
And Satan loves to magnify these, to ruin me with them.
I feel what David feels about the way Satan toys with me.
I’m not one to blame Satan, or to claim he made me do things.
For me, Satan is the negative and deceiving voice in my life.
Distracting me with temptation, discouraging me with fear.
He’s good at what he does, and I fall for it often.
I never go a day without these internal mind and heart battles.
I follow Jesus because I know I need His help.
And I know that He has beaten Satan for me, once and for all!
But I do wish that He would hurry up and step in.
I probably need to learn patience… but I want Him to hurry.
Is it OK for me to say with David, “hasten, come quickly, do not delay”?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, right now I am feeling the effects of the battle. Please step in… sooner rather than later!
Living for Jesus I must do and in doing so I will receive comments, accusations. Following Jesus makes me glad and at all times I must seek Him for my protecting for He is my Strength and Deliverer. I need His help and power and strength each day anew to stand up for Jesus to keep me on my Way living for Him. I need to be SpiritLed.
Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss:
From vict’ry unto vict’ry
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished
And Christ is Lord indeed.
Stand up for Jesus
Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not, it must not suffer loss.
2
Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
The trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict
In this His glorious day.
Ye that are men, now serve Him
Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger.
And strength to strength oppose.
3
Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you;
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the Gospel armor,
And, watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4
Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long:
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song;
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He, with the King of glory,
Shall reign eternally.
