Stepping into the Jesus Way!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Joshua 1-3
“As soon as… their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing.” (Joshua 3:15-16)
Notice that the flooding waters don’t stop until they step towards it.
This is the step of faith, where we act on what God says contrary to what we see.
John Ortberg was right, ‘if you want to walk on water, you gotta step out of the boat’.
This takes courage, faith and probably a dose of desperation too.
Jesus calls us to the way of grace and peace, like sheep stepping into a pack of wolves.
Jesus calls us to do the right thing when tempted or in trouble, but at what cost?
Living the Jesus Way is as scary and risky as it was for Israel entering Canaan.
The world we live in will resist us, will oppose us, will take advantage of us.
What hope do we have to succeed… except that God is with us.
“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Jesus followed God’s path, and came out on the other side.
He promises us that He will walk us through as well, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
Choosing the Jesus Way – which seems weak – is God’s way of stopping the flood of evil.
As we step in with grace and peace, God’s power is released, and miracles start to happen!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your Way is the path to overcome over the flood waters of sin, death and hell. With my eyes on You, I can walk through this storm and survive!
