On all people!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Numbers 10-12
“I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!” (Numbers 11:29)
Moses was a humble man (Numbers 12:3, if he wrote this, was that humility?).
When Eldad and Medad show signs of the Spirit at work in them, Moses is happy.
He was eager to share the blessing of God with all of God’s people.
His words here (11:29) are prophetic, for this is exactly what God has in mind.
“I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” (Acts 2:17-18, quoting Joel 2:28-29)
God planned from the beginning to give His Spirit of life to all humans (Genesis 2:7).
Pentecost is not a second or special blessing after salvation.
Through Jesus the Spirit has been poured out “on all people”… period.
Everyone has the Spirit, though not everyone gives themselves to that Spirit.
My view is you do not need to be super-spiritual, or have special experiences, to be Spirit-filled.
I am not the only prophet; in Christ we are ALL anointed as prophets, priests and kings.
Any sense of spiritual hierarchy is more the spirit of Miriam and Aaron, or James and John.
James and John wanted seats of honor with Jesus, but Jesus rebukes them for their pride.
The Spirit of elevates everyone to the same place before God – humble servants.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” (Mark 10:43-44)
What I sense the Lord saying to me today is to see everyone as my equal.
Equal in grace, equal in the Spirit, equal in calling, equal in God potential.
God’s Spirit is on you, and on me; we are all equally blessed and called to humbly serve the Lord.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, infuse me with Your Spirit of humility, and fill us all with the same desire as God and Moses to see all people as graced by the Holy Spirit.
