God wants to bless everyone!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Genesis 11:27-14:24
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-3)
This is the heart of the covenant between God and Israel, Abram’s descendants.
The goal is not to neglect the rest of the world, but to bless the world through them.
When Abram’s descendants trust and follow God, they are blessed and others are too.
When Abram lies in Egypt (forgetting to trust God), the king and land are cursed.
When Lot stays with Abram, he prospers and receives the best of the land.
When Lot and his family is taken by invading kings, Abram rescues and restores them.
And then there is the blessing of Melchi- (king) zedek (righteousness) (ch.14).
Unclear at this moment, this unknown king represents the coming Messiah.
“Jesus has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 6:20, Psalm 110:4)
The king of righteousness through Whom the whole world is blessed, rescued and restored.
This is our purpose as Jesus-followers.
Our selection is not for privilege, but for a purpose; God’s servants to bless the world.
As believers we should see ourselves as servants, as agents of blessing.
Blessed to be a blessing, freely receiving so that we might freely give.
The world will be a better place if Jesus-followers stay true to their task and calling.
But sadly, the opposite is also true, when they forget who they are, and Who they serve.
God remains faithful, He is blessing us to bless the world.
May we remain faithful, and see our blessings as gifts to be shared!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your heart is to bless everyone. Your will is to do it through us. Break the grip of selfish greed, and may we prosper in joyful generosity!
