THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 1:1-6
“Blessed is the one… who meditates on his law day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2)
Why would meditating on God’s law make a person blessed?
It is not the act itself that is the blessing, but the result of it.
This person isn’t just reading their bible endlessly, they’re following it’s guidance.
They make God’s influence in their life their priority, not the influence of others.
For Jews, Moses’ Law was their guide; for Jesus-followers it is Jesus’s Law.
Jesus modeled the God way: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, etc.
When we live God’s way, He is blessed, others are blessed, and we are blessed.
Why do we resist this, why do we think that living selfishly will make us happy?
If we want to be happy, devote yourself to learning Jesus’ way of living.
To be motivated by love for God and others, not for myself and my happiness?
If we are seeking blessing for ourselves, we will not find it.
But if we seek to be a blessing for others, we will be blessed as well!
This is God’s way, the way of the righteous, and the only way to be blessed.
But I wonder: how many christians actually meditate on scripture, to seek God’s way?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your way really is the best (and blessed) way to live. I want to sit in Your company, stand in Your way, and walk in step with You!
