THE STORY OF JESUS: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
“All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” (1 Corinthians 12:11)
It seems that spiritual gifts are different from natural gifts.
We are born with gifts or talents, part of the shape that God makes us.
But do we have spiritual gifts like natural gifts, something we always have?
My sense is that these unique spiritual gifts are situational gifts, dispersed as needed.
I do not have the gift of healing, but the Spirit may give me that gift in a specific situation.
Same with the other gifts, the Spirit determines if and when to give them to me.
What the Spirit decides to do is not based on my gifting, but on His determination.
I pray for healing not because I have the gift, but I may receive the gift.
I speak to others not because I have the gift of knowledge or wisdom, but He may speak through me.
We have the gift of the Spirit, He will determine what gifts of the Spirit to work through us.
The Spirit of Jesus wants to use me and you for His kingdom purpose.
He will set you up for opportunities of blessing, to do great things through you.
The key is, are we surrendered to Jesus and His purpose?
Do I make myself available to bless, to serve, to speak into, the lives of others for Jesus?
“Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice and let me sing, always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee.” (Frances Havergal)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, may the words of this song be the desire of my heart. May Your Spirit work that others may be blessed through Your gifts in and through me.
