The irrevocable law of life!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Esther 8:3-8
“No document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked.” (Esther 8:5)
Xerxes thought he was ‘God’, his word final, holding the power of life and death.
Only a new law could overrule an existing law; an existing law couldn’t be revoked.
Because this would undercut his authority, make him look weak.
God does not need to revoke His laws, because He is not subject to weakness.
What Xerxes claims for himself – irrevocable laws – is actually true of God.
And He has issues a new decree to overrule another law.
“You will certainly die” (Genesis 2:17) has been replaced with “the one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25)
God is not revoking the death penalty, but overruling it with another law.
Xerxes lifting the death penalty is a type of what God will do in Christ.
Removing the death penalty that hangs over our lives, declaring a new law of life.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)
This law is backed by God’s promise, and signed with His blood… it is irrevocable.
“Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.” (Hebrews 6:17)
I for one am thankful that I live under the law of the Spirit of life!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have signed and sealed God’s promise with Your blood. I am not doomed to death, and an heir to eternal life. My death is but the entry into life eternal!
