The unstoppable one!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 9:1-9
“Who is this about whom I hear such things?” (Luke 9:9)
Herod thought he had silenced John the Baptist.
But John was a servant of God, preparing the way for Jesus.
You cannot silence God, and you cannot stop God’s purpose.
Jesus is on a mission for God, and death will not stop Him.
Jesus’ death on the cross did not end His mission, it caused it to expand.
Jesus’ followers are trained to carry it on, from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
History is the continuous expansion of this mission through Jesus’ followers.
We continue to spread His message of restoration and hope.
We continue to witness is word and deed to the good news of God’s kingdom.
Helping, healing, serving, sharing, caring, trusting, persevering.
The question to ask about the church is not ‘who are these people?’
But who is their leader, who is this about whom we hear such things?
Jesus is the Christ, the messiah of the living God!
Jesus is God’s unstoppable agent of good news, impacting the world through His followers.
Satan can persecute Jesus followers, he can behead them, crucify them, cut out their tongues.
He will continue to try to silence Him, to defeat them… but he will fail.
“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)
Jesus sends us out with this confidence too!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, give me this boldness. When fear or circumstances threaten to discourage or defeat me, remind me of who You are too – the unstoppable one!

  1. Observations/Application
    Wow! Easy traveling.
    Taking nothing for the journey.
Put your trust in Him. He will provide. What trust! What faith!
Certainly not the way I travel today.
    God is the Provider.
    God is the Director.
    God is the Leader.
God is our Companion carrying all our burdens.
    He is always with us.
On my pilgrim’s progress, I must remember this always.

    All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
    Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well,
For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see.

    All the way my Savior leads me;
Oh, the fullness of His grace!
Perfect rest to me is promised
    In my Father’s blest embrace.
    When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.
