A light at the end of the tunnel!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 10:32-34
“Three days later he will rise.” (Mark 10:34)
Jesus uses prophetic language to describe Himself: the Son of Man.
For the disciples, the Son of Man was the coming king (Daniel 7:13-14).
But did they understand from Isaiah 53 that He would suffer and die.
Did they understand that He would come back alive again?
It was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied.(Isaiah 53:10-11)
Nothing about three days, but He will see His ‘grandchildren’, He will see the light of life.
Elsewhere Jesus sees Jonah’s three days in the fish as a sign of His three days (Matthew 12:40).
The key thing here is that He saw His mission in light of God’s revelation to Israel.
Everything is unfolding according to the plan.
“How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” (Luke 24:25-27)
The encouragement here is that this is true for us to.
Our lives are unfolding according to a plan, so that “we will see the light of life” too.
It doesn’t mean we won’t suffer; but like Jesus our suffering is leading to life!
Like Jesus, we can be confident before and during crisis that we are in God’s hands.
We keep moving “to Jerusalem” because we know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I don’t know what today will bring, or tomorrow… but I do know what the last day will bring. I will keep following You to Jerusalem, knowing I will see the light of life, and be satisfied!

  1. Observations/Application
To Jerusalem we go knowing full well what lay ahead. The religious leaders were out to ‘get’ Jesus and so the disciples were astonished and the others were afraid, yet following Him. Jesus took His twelve aside and once again told them what was to happen yet their hearts were hardened not really understanding what He said. After all, didn’t He bring life, raise the dead, multiple the loaves, heal the sick, etc? Remember the words after His resurrection? Didn’t I tell you?
And this is the third reminder telling them of the future events.
Following Jesus means having an open heart and listening ears and seeing eyes. Each day anew I need to see where the Lord is leading me since I am walking with Him and one day too I will reach my destination. Jesus will always be my Guide and never leave me. Christ on His journey was left by His Father so that I can live in His presence today and forevermore.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
