Still lots we don’t understand!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 9:9-13
“They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.” (Mark 9:10)
Being with Jesus must have been an inspiring yet confusing time.
They were seeing and hearing amazing things, things never even imagined possible.
And Jesus was constantly challenging their ways of thinking about things.
They’d been taught the Torah in Sabbath school, but not how Jesus explained it.
I am encouraged by the fact that the disciples often DIDN’T get it.
The community of disciples today also needs to discuss what we see and hear and believe.
We need to devote ourselves to the apostles teachings about Jesus (Acts 2:42).
Like the Bereans, we should receive the message with great eagerness and examine the Scriptures every day to see if what they say is true. (Acts 17:11)
We do not do so alone, but with the Spirit of Jesus guiding us.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
Too often I find communities of disciples closed to discussion, closed to asking questions.
We become people with answers, as if we already know everything exactly as it is.
Truth is not relative, but our understanding of it is.
Disciples must always discuss Jesus, Who He is, what he said, and what it means to follow Him.
With scripture in our hands and the Spirit in our hearts, we still learn from Jesus.
He will continue to surprise us with new insights into the truth.
Things never even imagined possible!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we are slow learners. Thank You for Your patient Spirit teaching us, humbling us, inspiring us, reminding us! May we stay open to learning from You!
