SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11
“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised…” (Hebrews 11:13)
A reminder to those who say that faith is the key to getting what you hope for.
Just believe… and you will be healed, blessed, find a job, find a partner, etc.
Faith is not how to get what you want, it is confidence in God no matter what.
Even if we don’t receive what we want… riches, healing, marriage, employment.
I sat with a lady recently whose young son died of cancer…
As he pastor preached passionately about ‘Jesus will heal you of your sickness!’
She walked out, and I wondered why this message of faith in Hebrews 11 was not also preached.
Faith is hanging on to God when facing the impossible, because we trust in the God of possibilities.
In life, in death, in sickness, in health, we are trusting that God has a better tomorrow for us.
We may not receive it in this life, we may die before we see it, but we will see it!
Faith is hanging on to God when we don’t see it, trusting Him when everything is falling apart.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
One day all our eyes will be opened, and we will all see with eyes of flesh.
But for now, we cling to God with eyes of faith, trusting Him whether we receive our hopes or not.

PRAYER
Lord, forgive us for turning faith into a mechanism for worldly gain. Increase our confidence in You when the world is falling apart, knowing that You’ve got it all under control, whether we see it or not.
