Truly meets our need!

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6-8
“Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.” (Hebrews 7:26)
Because creation fell victim to human rebellion, God had to intervene.
The first stage was an arrangement (covenant) unveiled through Moses.
He rescued an enslaved people and put them under a strict code.
The Moses Code was filled with symbolic messages of warning and blessing.
But at the heart of it was the message of grace, portrayed through the temple, the priests and sacrifices.
The point of them all: God will take care of once and for all the guilt and grip of our sin.
Jesus is the final installment of God’s plan, representing a new arrangement.
We don’t need a temple, priests or sacrifices anymore; we have Jesus.
He has secured our forgiveness and set us free from the curse of and death.
Now, with Jesus, we are anchored to eternity, and nothing can separate us from God.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (Hebrews 6:19)
I do not need to follow Moses’s laws to be forgiven, I am forgiven!
I do not need to observe religious rituals or traditions, I am free!
I do not need to perform for God to be accepted, I am fully restored!
I am not motivated by guilt or by the need to impress God, I am motivated by love and gratitude.
I feel for those Christians that still feel the burden of the obsolete covenant.
Jesus is all we need, the perfect mediator, the perfect supporter, the perfect Lord!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me from fear, from guilt, from religious performance, from the Law. Thank You for strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow!

  1. Observation/Application
    Be fruitful producing a blessing to those around us. Show the love of God at work. Be diligent at doing good, worthy of being imitated. Our anchor is the Lord Who has shown us the Way. He is our All in all. Our Surety. Our Steadfastness. Our secure Foundation.
    He is ever present meeting all our needs. He is Perfect and in Him we/I also have perfection since in Him I am made complete. His Word needs to be upon my heart always. He is my God and I will always serve Him. He makes me strong and His power will never disappear. I Him I am able to do what I need to do each day anew – to live for Jesus.

    Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
    Doing each duty in His holy Name;
    Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
    Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

    Refrain

    Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
    My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
    Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
    Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
