From my hands to His!

SCRIPTURE: Acts 20:25-38
“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace…” (Acts 20:32)
As a parent, I want so bad to protect my children.
I know that after they leave home, they will face challenges and struggles.
There are savage wolves out there, as well as a “roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
But there comes a point when it is out of our hands, when they go out on their own.
And like Paul, we must commit them to God and to the message of His grace.
God’s grace is sufficient for them, it will carry them through their days.
I have to trust that since He “bought them with his own blood”, He loves them more than I do.
My hands are limited, but His hands are unlimited.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30)

When my hands can’t hold or help the ones I love, I know the hands of Jesus and the Father surround them.
And so again and again I commit the sheep under my care to God, and to His message of grace.
No one can snatch them out of His hands!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, it is scary to let go of the ones you love. But it is encouraging to know that You will never let go. Remind me that You love them even more than I do, and Your love is stronger than savage wolves and roaring lions. I commit them to You, and to Your grace!

  1. Observations/Application
Spirit driven. SpiritLead. Knowing that he will not come this way again. The ‘last supper.’
Knowing that this was the last time, Paul tells them once again to stay strong = strong in the WAY. And then commits them to the Lord. He has shown the Way and now they must walk in the Way.
    And we do this prayerfully.
    Pray for one another. Oneanothering.
Although the physical presence is gone, the community stays and walks in His WAY, walking in His ‘SonShine’ each day remembering whose we are and praying for the ‘family’.
Paul was an epistle – a living letter – a shining light of the gospel.
    I must do the same.

    This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine.
    This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine.-
Let it shine, let it shine
    Let it shine.

    – Hide it under a bushel, NO!
    – Shine all over (your town)
    – Don’t let Satan blow it out
    – Let it shine ’til Jesus comes
