Our mission from God

SCRIPTURE: Acts 26:12-23
“I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:17-18)
This is Paul’s mission, and yet it also summarizes our mission as well.

  • To open their eyes
  • To turn them from darkness to light
  • To turn them from the power of Satan to God
  • So that they may receive forgiveness of sins
  • So that they may receive a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus

If I were to apply this to myself, do I see this as my task as well, in my life and in my occupation.
Somehow, as I relate to people, I am opening their eyes, turning them towards God and the light.
Somehow by my words, my actions, my priorities, my values, my way of dealing with life or challenges.
Not to be preachy or churchy, but to live in such a way that they see, and they ask.
Be assured, if you live the Jesus life, it will be noticed, it will provoke a response.
The trick is to not draw attention to ourselves, but to Jesus.
We are to be “a servant and as a witness” of Jesus, of how we have seen and experienced Him.
This seems like a tall order; how am I to open peoples eyes, or turn people to God?
Actually, I can’t, but the One I serve and witness to can!
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. ” (Ephesians 1:17-19)
My job is to know Jesus better, and as I do, I will show Him better.
He will do the rest!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, open the eyes of my heart, that I may know You better. I want to know You better so that I can show You better!
