The end and the beginning!

SCRIPTURE: Revelation 21-22
“He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 21:6)
This is not just the end of one story, but the beginning of another one.
God was there at the beginning (Genesis 1:1), and will be there at the end.
And at that point we will begin the story God created us for.
“No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:3-5)
The kingdom of Genesis 1, where humanity reigns on God’s behalf, reflecting God’s character, is restored.
Throughout this whole Story, there were many points when things got tense, dark, despairing.
But God’s purpose through Jesus was never in doubt: God was restoring His creation, and His children.
Jesus is the hero through this whole Story, because He alone refuses to bow to Satan.
He is the faithful Offspring, bruised but not crushed, crushing the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15).
This Story is an epic adventure, the ultimate triumph of good over evil.
But it is not just a story, it is His story, it is our story, it is true story.
And through it is, from beginning to end, is God.
And every letter in this story, from alpha to omega, spells the name of Jesus.
And like every good story, the ending is a new beginning.
‘And they all lived happily ever after!’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we are still in this story, and there are many moments when we fear or despair the outcome. Remind me that You are the Author, and Your story has a happy ending!

  1. Observations/Application
    As it was in the beginning, it should be always – God dwelling among His people – and He is – if we but live for Him – today and forevermore. And in time, it will all be like the beginning, no more sin, insisting upon our own way and not His Way.
    I enjoy traveling and in the older places, the church steeple is visible in the distance. When God returns, we will not need that reminder of the steeple because He is everywhere. He will always be our SonShine.
    So what gives me the strength today to live for Jesus? I must be GodStrong and that is only a possibility if I live for Him. I am not my on but belong to Him. Lead me and guide me today and always Lord Jesus.

    Into my heart, into my heart,
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus;
    Come in today, come in to stay;
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

    Out of my heart, out of my heart,
    Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus;
    Shine out today, shine out alway;
    Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus.
