SCRIPTURE: Psalm 150
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6)
Are you getting the point?
Who should praise the Lord – everyone that breathes!
Why should we praise the Lord – His surpassing greatness and acts of power!
Where should we praise the Lord – in the sanctuary and in the vast reaches of creation!
How should we praise the Lord – with exuberant singing and dancing!
When should we praise the Lord – always, from beginning to the end and always in between.
If we really knew how great and good God is, we would keep praising Him.
This is not to say that life in this messed up world is easy.
But the mess we are in is BECAUSE we forget who God is, and why we should love Him.
As Jesus followers, we may face hardship, suffering and persecution.
But we are compelled by the Spirit to praise the Lord, to rejoice in Him.
And when we do, we experience a comfort and a peace that no one can take from us.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)
I will say it again — praise the Lord!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
