SCRIPTURE: Acts 10:23-33
“God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.” (Acts 10:28)
Peter is acting on what God has shown him.
Cornelius also acted on what God showed him.
What has God shown us, and are we acting on it?
Do we treat people differently, based on who or how they are?
How do we treat the homeless, or people of other cultures and faiths?
How do we deal with those who are a part of the LGBT community?
How do we speak of the police, or government officials?
How do we respond to those who have cheated or hurt us?
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
If they will know that we are Jesus followers by our love, will others see it in us?
Am I acting on what God has shown me?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, open my eyes to see how they are closed. Open my heart that I may love who You love, and serve those that You serve!
Observation/Application
Hospitality.
Inviting the strangers to be his guests.
Sharing the good news with fellow believers since some believers went along for the journey.
Community – what an encouragement. God at work.
Visions. Angels. God speaks to His people so they follow His Word. Peter and Cornelius act without hesitation. Open ears. Open mind. Open hearts.
Head – heart – hand – all acting in one accord doing His will.
Am I listening for His voice saying this is the Way, walk in it?
Open my eyes Lord so that I may see You to do Your will.
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see Your face
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see
Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear Your voice
Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear
Open my heart, Lord
Help me to love like You
Open my heart, Lord
Help me to love
I live within you
Deep in your heart, oh, love
I live within you
Rest now in me
