Extraordinary!

SCRIPTURE: Acts 4:13-22
“They were unschooled, ordinary men…” (Acts 4:13)
Jesus delights in making the ordinary extraordinary!
Are these the same men that denied Jesus a weeks earlier?
Why caused these guys to change… “these men had been with Jesus!” (Acts 4:13)
I finished a biography of another extraordinary man, a man of deep, sincere prayer.
Not ‘prayer’ in the formal sense, but he ‘walked and talked’ with Jesus through his days.
Jesus was a part of his daily experience, and it changed him.
I cannot be with Jesus in the same way these disciples were.
But through the Spirit, through the fellowship of prayer, Jesus is with me every day.
And He changes me too, if I let Him.
Walking and talking with Jesus does not make life easier – ask Peter and John.
But it does make life extraordinary!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I realize that though You are with me all the time, I am not always present with You. Remind me how extraordinary life can be when I walk and talk in Your presence through each day.

  1. Observations/Application
Who do we listen to? What voice directs our footsteps?
There are many passage in the Bible about the people hearing the voice of God or the sheep hearing the voice of the shepherd. As found in Isaiah ‘ And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.’ All of God’s people must listen to Him and when we do we too will do extraordinary things like His disciples.
May we/I too not be able to help myself but speak about the mighty things He has done!
Help me this day to walk and talk with You Lord in all that I do and say. I need to walk daily with my risen Saviour.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

    Refrain

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
