Praise God on the night shift!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 134
This psalm urges the priests not to stop their duties in the night shift.
When no one is around, or no one is looking, or when things are dark and scary.
In those times too, praise the Lord and anticipate His blessing.
The night shift can represent those times when it’s easy to put our faith on hold.
Either because the rest of the world is sleeping, and so we nod off as well.
Or because the night is when dark things happen, and we lose our faith through them.
Whether down times or dark times, keep on praising the Lord.
When we’re tired, when we’re sleeping, God is still on duty.
He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep. (Psalm 121:4)
He is also aware of all that goes on in the night, under cover of darkness.
This is good, and encouraging… unless of course we’re participating in them.
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12)
As a Jesus follower, I need to take the night shift seriously too, it can be prime God-blessing time!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, the night is not a time to slough off, but a time to rest in You. Thank You that You are always on duty!

  1. Observations/Application
    Praise the Lord almost seems like a command to God’s people with an emphasis on the night when darkness is the cover hiding the Light. The night is sleep time, recovery time from the day’s activities yet all must be done in praise to Him. God is always in His ‘temple’ and we the people must always praise Him.
    Lifting my hands is an activity I need to learn 🙂
    At all times I need to praise Him – in the morning – in the afternoon – in the evening – during the night – in the daytime – in the night time.
    God blesses His people and gives them strength to serve.
    Serve Him at all times.

    1
    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.
    2
    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.
    3
    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.
