Only servants

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 1-3
“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words.” (1 Corinthians 2:4)
As a preacher, I often feel the pressure to perform like a super preacher.
The kind that draw the crowds, move people to respond, write books and sign them.
Well, maybe not that far, but I do feel like a performer being evaluated every Sunday.
This may be somewhat self-induced, but I also think it is how many Christians talk.
I like what Paul has to say, but not sure he would have maintained a mega church this way.
“With a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Paul’s impact did not lie in his preaching, but in God’s power.
I have to trust for the same: speak with passion and clarity, and leave the results to God.
I do think we Christians could learn from what Paul is saying in these chapters.
Stop seeking power preachers, and open up to God’s power, whatever message we hear.
“What, after all, is (Norm)? And what is (Andy)? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.” (1 Corinthians 3:5)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to stop measuring my sermons by peoples responses. Help me to trust that You are working through me, whether I hear anything or not.
