To know what God is like

SCRIPTURE: John 17:20-26
“Father, I… will continue to make you known.” (John 17:26)
Jesus helps us understand what God is really like.
Sadly, so many people have a skewed picture of God.
They over-stress His anger or justice or power or loftiness.
Though Jesus doesn’t deny these, He stresses God’s mercy and love.
The cross remains the greatest visual object lesson of the extent of His love.
Jesus wants us to know what God is really like…
“In order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” (John 17:26)
God’s desire – and Jesus’ – is to enjoy personal, intimate fellowship with us.
Is this the picture you have of God?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your love is amazing. I do not deserve it. But I cling to it. Thank You for showing me what God is really like.

  1. Observation/Application
    Unity.
    Oneness.
Just as the Father and the Son and the Spirit are One so too all His people must be one and in this way also be a witness to the world so that they too may know Jesus saves. The Gospel in one word is love.
The ingredient of prayer is a necessity because of the breakdown of the oneness. It is only by His grace and power that we/I am restored in full communion – to show His love not only for me but all all who believe. He is the ‘glue’ that makes this Oneness a reality.
    A possibility.
I need to go forward in that power this day.
Not my will, but Yours be done.

    Love, Love, Love, Love
The Gospel in a word is love
    Love your neighbor as yourself
    Love, Love, Love.
