To love God like this

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 119:145-176
“Yet you are near, Lord, and all your commands are true.” (Psalm 119:151)
There is no better place to be than close to God.
God is with us always, wherever we are… but are we with Him?
Not just in His presence, but with Him in practice too?
‘Are you with me or against me?’, we might be asked?
If we do the kinds of things that displease God, we are with Him?
If we are selfish, cruel, vindictive, greedy, are we really with Him?
God’s commands represent His character, what He is like, what He stands for.
If we claim to love God, we ought to love what He is like.
Through this Psalm you can sense David’s heart for God, and for God’s will.
With all his heart, from before the dawn and through the watches of the night.
Seven times a day… with all his heart and soul and mind and strength.
God is asking me, ‘do you love me like this?’
‘I am with you, are you with Me?’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, why would we love any other way of living than Yours? You are near, and Your commands are true!

  1. Observation/Application
At all times I need to talk with my Father and obey His Word. When I am troubled I need to seek His face throughout the night. I must walk and talk with God always for He is my Comfort and Strength. My comfort is when I walk with my risen Saviour putting my hand in His.
At all times I need to praise the living God. He is my Rock, my Security, my Hope.
Sing praises for the great things He has done. Sing praises.
That is my purpose and delight that I praise the Lord in word and deed always. Lead me and guide me that I do not stray. Keep me in the Way and help me listen always to the Voice saying, This is the Way. Walk in it.
Help me this day to be a servant true.

    1. Brother, let me be your servant.
Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant, too.

    2. We are pilgrims on a journey.
We are brothers on the road.
We are here to help each other
Walk the mile and bear the load.

    3. I will hold the Christ-light for you
In the night time of your fear.
    I will hold my hand out to you;
Speak the peace you long to hear.

    4. I will weep when you are weeping.
When you laugh, I’ll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow
Till we’ve seen this journey through.
