My time is not yet here

SCRIPTURE: John 7:1-13
“My time is not yet here; for you any time will do.” (John 7:6)
Jesus was aware of Who He was, and why He had come.
He was aware that His life was unfolding on a timeline.
He had certain tasks to fulfill, before His final task – the cross.
When Jesus said ‘my time’, He meant His death.
He knew He had other stuff to do before He died – good stuff, God stuff.
You have good stuff, God stuff, to do before your time comes too.
Jesus is calling us to join with Him in living our time for God.
Are we aware of our task, of our timeline?
Do you see your life as a life of purpose, specifically God’s purpose?
Spend some time writing down God’s purpose for you.
Then compare your timeline – how you spend your time – with God’s.
Are you working for the weekend, aiming for retirement, wasting time?
Are you investing your life for something bigger than yourself?
If you are living for yourself, then “any time will do”.
But if you are living for God and good and others, then only God’s time matters.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for the gift of my life. May I not bury it or waste it, but may I invest it well for You!

  1. Observation/Application
    Word and deed. They go together. And yet . . .
    The disciples wanted Jesus to go to the festival and show Himself. They too were doubting Thomas’s. They wanted Jesus to show Himself because any prophet can not tell the message in secret. The disciples went without Christ and He did too, although in secret. All in God’s good timing. And the people were talking about Him and His influence. hat about me.

    What is being said about me? On Facebook there is a timeline. How is my timeline. What does it say? How have I served His purposes?

    Help me this day once again Lord to serve You in all I do and say. Make me GodStrong.

    Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
    Striving to please Him in all that I do;
    Yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free,
    This is the pathway of blessing for me.
    Refrain

    O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
    For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me.
    I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne.
    My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.

    Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
    Bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace;
    Such love constrains me to answer His call,
    Follow His leading and give Him my all.

    Refrain

    Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
    Doing each duty in His holy Name;
    Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
    Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

    Refrain

    Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
    My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
    Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
    Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
