A close, personal relationship

SCRIPTURE: Ezekiel 37-42
“My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (Ezekiel 37:27)
The temple was important for the Jews.
It reminded them that God was with them…
A comfort when going through tough times, and a challenge when forgetting about God.
The temple was a symbol, a reminder of something beyond itself.
A close, personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe.
Not just for Jews, but a house of prayer for all nations (Mark 11:17).
We do not need the temple today, Jesus has made us into temples.
God dwells with us, with Jesus, through the Spirit (John 14:23).
One day, when God’s kingdom is fully restored, temples will be no more.
“I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” (Revelation 21:22)
One day we will walk with God in the garden, in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8).
Life in this world will be as it was meant to be.
This is God’s dream, what He is working towards through Jesus.
Is this your dream too?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I do look forward to the day when I don’t have to struggle to know You are near. I look forward to the day when we all enjoy a close, personal relationship with You and with each other.

  1. Observation/Application
    Hear the Word of the Lord. It is He Who gives Life the very breathe of Life. He is my God. I must be careful to do His decrees. He dwells in me and is ever present. And because of that I have Life and Life eternal. I must need to live for Jesus this day for the King resides within me.

    I need to listen to Him saying this is the way. Walk in it. I must walk with my risen Saviour each day for He leads and guides me always. Do have open eyes to see His greatness for the mighty things He has done? I need to hear what the Lord God says to His people. Open my ears Lord. You do live among Your people. Thank You for Your Spirit is living here.

    Into my heart, into my heart,
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus;
    Come in today, come in to stay;
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.
    Out of my heart, out of my heart,
    Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus;
    Shine out today, shine out alway;
    Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus.
