SCRIPTURE: Psalm 111
“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” (Psalm 111:2)
When is the last time you thought about God’s work in your life?
If you were asked to share about God’s greatness, what would you say?
At our church we ask people to verbalize their praise before we sing about it.
I can see this is a stretch for many people.
People may love to sing ‘I Love to Tell the Story’…
But we seem less eager to actually tell the story.
This Psalm urges us to ponder on how God has been at work in the world, and in our lives.
It also says that it is the people who delight in this work that do the pondering.
Do I delight in the things that God is doing in and around me?
Usually when think about it long enough, reasons for praising God start to multiply.
Take this as a challenge for this week.
Spend time everyday reflecting on, and writing down, specific ways God is at work.
And next Sunday, “extol the Lord with all your heart in the assembly.” (Psalm 111:1)
You will discover the truth of these words: “How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” (Psalm 147:1)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, open my eyes that I may see the wonderful things You are doing in my life, and around the world. And open my mouth that I my tell others!
Observation/Application
‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.’
This is one of well known passages of God’s Word. Wisdom is to be sought after such as the wisdom Solomon had. This wisdom that God gives puts all in the right perspective. Understanding and the Lordship of Jesus Christ must be the groundwork for all of our thoughts. God is the Provider. All must be seen through His eyes. He remembers His promises. I must do the same and see what glorious things our awesome God has done and still is doing today.
He upholds His beautiful Creation and provides redemption for His people.
Jesus saves.
Because He lives
I can live in Him forevermore.
Praise Him today and always
on this first day of the week.
Beautiful Savior, King of Creation
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love Thee, truly I’d serve Thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.
Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in the flowers of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
He makes our sorrowing spirit sing.
Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.
Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration
Now and forevermore be Thine!
