SCRIPTURE: Luke 24:1-12
“The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” (Luke 24:7)
In history, there are three significant moments relating to death and resurrection.
(1) In the beginning, the ‘living beings’ Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:7) turned against the God of life and became trapped in the curse of death (Genesis 2:17, 3:19).
Since that moment, all humans have lived and died, without being resurrected; the few exceptions were only temporary; they eventually died again (2 Kings 13:21; John 11:43).
(2) With Jesus, the Son of Adam dies an accursed death (Galatians 3:13), just like everyone else in history.
But for the first time ever, a Son of Adam (human) breaks free from the curse of death (Acts 2:24).
The good news is, Jesus is the first fruit of a coming harvest; more people will come back to life! (1 Corinthians 15:20,23).
(3) At the end of time, everyone who will come back to life, though only those whose names are written in the book of life will continue to live with God forever (Revelation 20:11-15).
Jesus stands at the spiritual centre of history, and He is the key to eternal life or eternal death.
Jesus had to die to overcome death; Jesus had to be raised up, so that we could be raised up.
I was made to live, not die; God has done what is necessary to break death’s hold on my life.
Will I accept this great gift, will I take hold of Jesus’ hand and allow Him to lead me to eternal life?
He is not dead, He is alive; because He lives, we also will live!
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

PRAYER

1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’
8 Then they remembered his words.
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

  1. Observation/Application
    My way or His way.
Whose voice do I really listen to?
I am reminded again and again – didn’t I listen? Didn’t I hear the Word of the Lord. Remember and believe!
Memory stones need to be my stepping stones to go forward.
Listen to the Word and take it to heart.
    Have Your way O Lord.
Listen to the voice saying this is the way. Walk init.
Run to me and not away from me.
    I am here.
    I am alive.
    Forevermore
    I will help you
if you but believe My Word.
Come to Jesus and have life eternal.
Live the Word this day. Just do in My name.

If you but trust in God to guide you,
And place your confidence in Him,
You’ll find Him always there beside you
    To give you hope and strength within;
For those who trust God’s changeless love
Build on the Rock that will not move.
Only be still and wait His pleasure
In cheerful hope, with heart content:
He fills your needs to fullest measure
    With what discerning love has sent;
Doubt not our inmost wants are known
To Him who chose us for His own.
Sing, pray, and keep His ways unswerving,
    Offer your service faithfully,
And trust His word; though undeserving,
    You’ll find His promise true to be;
God never will forsake in need
The soul that trusts in Him indeed.
