Eager to feast with Jesus!

SCRIPTURE: Luke 22:14-23
Jesus eagerly desires to eat THIS passover with His disciples… why?
He had eaten many meals with them, and probably a few passovers.
But this is the last passover before He suffers, before the ‘big event’ occurs.
The big event is His death, dying for the curse of Adam (Genesis 2:17).
He steps in the take the curse, and defeat it, and begin a new stage of history.
He is our blood brother, and through His victory over death, a new bond (covenant) is formed.
Jesus restores Adam (humanity) to their rightful place (Genesis 1:26-28).
This world is once again our kingdom domain, under Jesus (the last Adam).
We are now restoring this kingdom to God’s will, living and loving and leading like Jesus.
And when this kingdom task is done, Jesus will join us in the final victory celebration.
And we will all raise a glass – a toast – to God, to Jesus, in praise and thanksgiving!
Jesus knows what is about to happen, what is about to begin, He is eager to set it in motion.
We are in the middle of it, and every time to celebrate communion, we declare His death, our victory!
And we renew our commitment to pursuing His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven…
Because we eagerly desire to eat the Celebration Feast with Jesus on the day of His return!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I have never seen communion in this way. It makes me eager to share in it again, to declare Your victory – and our victory through You – and to commit to advancing Your kingdom, and the final feast!

  1. Observation/Application
    The Passover – in Egypt land the people remembered God’s faithfulness and they stood ready for their travels out of captivity. God would light their way to their new land. With the disciples, Christ Jesus would b the Lamb that would be slain to fulfill the requirements of the new kingdom living. Once again, the Passover was to remember God’s faithfulness and His promises of the newness of the Kingdom.
    The journey continues as we all are moving forward to the fulfillment of that Kingdom in God’s time. In the meantime we – His disciples – Christ followers – continue to work and pray in His vineyard as faithful servants remember all what was taught and done in days past to bring us to this time and place. He is faithful and I need to be faithful in my living for Jesus – today and all my tomorrows.

    Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
    To God the creator triumphantly raise.
    Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
    Who still guides us on to the end of our days.
    God’s banners are o’er us, His light goes before us,
    A pillar of fire shining forth in the night.
    Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished
    As forward we travel from light into light.

    His law he enforces, the stars in their courses
    And sun in its orbit obediently shine;
    The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,
    The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine.
    We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing;
    With glad adoration a Song let us raise
    Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving:
    “To God in the highest, Hosanna and praise!”
