Open my eyes too!

SCRIPTURE: Luke 18:35-43
What would it be like for this man to suddenly see?
What a visual shock to the system, it would have been overwhelming.
His new eyesight gives him insight into who Jesus is, and he praises God!
It also gives insight to the people: “When all the people saw it, they also praised God.”
In other words, Jesus opened many eyes this day.
I expect that one day there will be another healing of blindness.
One day all of our eyes will be opened to the truth about God and everything else.
One day we will all shield our eyes in wonder, overwhelmed by the full truth.
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)
We all need to be healed: we all are crippled by something, dying of something, blinded by something.
I sense the Lord saying to me: ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet… one day you will!’
“When all the people see it, they also will praise God.”
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, too often I act as if I already know, as if I can see. Help me to know where I am blind too. Open my eyes to Your truth, I want to see!

  1. Over and over again there are stories of faith and persistence — the woman with the issue of blood, the man whose friends brought him down through the roof to see Jesus Etc, etc. The prosperity preachers would lead you to believe that all you need is to have enough faith and you will get anything you want — a new house, healing from disease, a spouse, a child. After all, god wants us to have life and have it ABUNDANTLY right? But what is true healing? What is true abundance? God, I pray that even with my mustard seed sized faith, that you would heal the broken parts of me, and anoint me to be a part of building your kingdom. I pray that when I praise you and bow down before you unashamed, that others would see your goodness and praise you as well.

All of my life, in every season, you are still God, I have a reason to sing. I have a reason to worship.

  2. Observation/Application
How fitting today’s reading since I will be having cataract surgery in one eye this morning so that I can see clearly . . . at least that is my desire. Looking through a glass darkly but desiring to see clearly.
I thought I could see all things but the actor said wait until afterwards and you will see rings not seen before. So too it is with the Christian life. I have the ah ha moments when things come together and my understanding increases. The ‘light bulb’ goes on sort of speaking.
Those who know about this small procedure encourage and pray. I’m sure that they too praise God for miracles like this. I certainly will. But one day we will see how Christ was at work in the lives of His people and in His creation bringing all rings together for His purpose. We will all see clearly then and understand and praise the Creator King.
But in the meantime my prayer continues to be ‘Open my eyes Lord that I might see You’ in all things today and always.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat)

    The right word to say,
    the best move to make
Who’s in need of a helping hand
For Your perfect ways are worthy of praise
I delight just to do Your plan

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat to beginning)

Help me to know Your will

Help me to know Your will
