The blessing of following Jesus

SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 25-31
“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.” (Proverbs 29:18)
If only people paid attention to the wisdom of God, things would be so much better, for us and for the world!
I admit that the bible can be a difficult, divisive book (even christians can’t agree on what it says or means).
And I admit that people have used the bible to justify all kinds of abuses and crimes.
But putting aside the controversies, the heart of wisdom is evident and plain, especially in Jesus.
It is not rocket science; love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) just makes sense.
Has our world become a better place without God, Jesus, and the gospel message?
We are seeing a world that is casting off restraint, and suffering for it.
Some things will never change; without God, without God’s help, without God’s wisdom, we will perish.
But looking to God, relying on God’s help, seeking to live God’s wisdom, life will improve with God’s blessing.
Don’t be distracted by the debates and controversies, nor by those who abuse the bible to abuse the world… focus on Jesus, God’s greatest revelation.
Seek Jesus (God’s Word/revelation made flesh) and the way of Jesus, and you will be blessed – you and all those around you!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
God, forgive us for abusing You, the bible, and others. Help us to see Jesus as the revelation of Your heart, and to step into the blessing of living in/with/like/for Jesus!
