Looking up to heaven

SCRIPTURE: Luke 9:10-17
Some people doubt this story, it is just made up, no one could multiply food like this.
I agree, no human could ever do this, but I do believe that God could.
And that’s the thing; those who doubt this story also doubt there is a God.
So this is the real issue: is there a divine being with power beyond our comprehension?
Jesus does not perform this miracle Himself, He looks up to heaven (Luke 9:16, i.e. God); God does it through Him!
Then why doesn’t God do it all the time, for all hungry (or sick or suffering) people?
Though technically I believe God could, I do not think God would.
Miracles occur as signs, as occasional interventions to back us up, when He deems it helpful.
God’s plan is not to run this world through miracles, but through us: His representatives, His hands and feet on earth.
He wants us to feed the hungry, heal the sick, help the needy, care for the poor, etc.
When we do what we can, He helps us, and magnifies the results of our human efforts.
We are backed by the power of God; He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
As we do our part, we look up to heaven (i.e. God) and anticipate that He will accomplish great things through us.
Who knows how many thousands have been miraculously helped through our humble service?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
God, all I need to know is that I am backed by Your divine support. This should give me all the confidence I need to be Your hands and feet in the world today.
