This quote from Chris Forbes (Ministry Marketing Coach) speaks to where my heart is leaning:
I think what is most needed when a church wants to become more relevant to people is to become less “Unchurched Seeker Sensitive” by putting more emphasis on making the church more “Sensitive Seekers of the Unchurched”. In short, the church needs to stop trying so hard to attract people, and become more adept at seeking people.
I concur
It really makes no difference if we are a ‘seeker’ church or ‘seeking’ unchurched if we are not living a personal, relationship with Jesus Christ 24/7. If our hearts are devoted to Him, He will draw the unchurched/ non believers to Himself in and through us. We cannot do what only the Holy Spirit can do but we must be available and willing to be used by Him. We are but instruments in His hands. When my heart is in tune with my LORD and Saviour, than I am living out what His purposes. It’s somewhat like the Gideons’ using the King James Version of the Bible – it’s a difficult read, why not use an easier translation? If one is open to meeting Jesus, the Holy Spirit moves in and opens one’s eyes, mind and heart to hear exactly what God is speaking into their lives. If our worship services truly invite the presence of God, the Holy Spirit shows up and does what only the Holy Spirit can do. It’s not what we are doing? It’s what we are living……If our lifestyles’ reflect 24/7 who we are on Sundays as we worship, the Holy Spirit will move and seekers will find their way ‘home’ and we will be able to embrace them in His love 24/7 – this is sensitve seekers of the unchurched. ‘LORD, whom will You allow me to introduce to Jesus today’ (a prayer I should pray every day?)……
