  1. Observation/Application
Ask the right people and you will get the advice you want to hear. This is what Rehoboam did. And yet he did listen to the word of the Lord through Shemaiah. Jeroboam and Rehoboam both went contrary to the word of the Lord and did their own thing.
As was shown by the prophet of the Lord one must follow the word of the Lord doing his will. Not doing the will of the Lord means death. One needs to listen to the right voice, making sure it is the word of the Lord – words of life! How do I listen to the voice of the Lord?
One’s heart needs to be fully devoted to the Lord God such as David’s. Asa also was committed to the Lord God as I also need to be committed to the Lord God in all I do and say. What will be said about my life – will it be about HisStory?
    God’s Word comes to pass.
What about my actions? Are they in accordance to the Word of the Lord? Do I ask Him for daily guidance? How’s my walk with God?

    Prayer:
Let my walk with the Lord be in His SonShine each and every day.

O for a closer walk with God,
    A calm and heavenly frame,
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lamb!

Where is the blessedness I knew,
When first I saw the Lord?
Where is the soul refreshing view
    Of Jesus and His Word?

What peaceful hours I once enjoyed!
    How sweet their memory still!
But they have left an aching void
    The world can never fill.

    Return, O holy Dove, return,
    Sweet messenger of rest!
I hate the sins that made Thee mourn
And drove Thee from my breast.

The dearest idol I have known,
    Whate’er that idol be
Help me to tear it from Thy throne,
    And worship only Thee.

So shall my walk be close with God,
    Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark the road
That leads me to the Lamb.
