  1. Observations/Applications:
The battle against the Ammonites – the Lord gave David the victory. Yet despite all what the Lord did for David, he worked his plan without God in the story of David and Bathsheba. All what we do needs to please the Lord. David hears the story of Nathan and David orders his own punishment. Where did I see God’s hand in my daily affairs of living? I must be able to see God’s hand, God’s doing in my daily living for Jesus.
Absalom killed Amnon and the king longed for Absalom’s return. God’s word has come and visited David as was foretold by Nathan the prophet. God used Joab and the woman to restore Absalon to his place and yet David did not ‘see’ him until Joab went to the king. The family was restored. God restores the fortunes of His people but they need to live in His way.
Yet Absalom conspired against his father. David moved out and became a roaming king because of his son. The ark stayed in the city. The departure was done in God’s presence – weeping and mourning.
David sees the hand of the Lord in the happenings – in his ousting. Where do I see the hand of the Lord? Just in the good happenings. In the ‘sad’ happenings? In all happenings? for God is present everywhere. Even in the pending war with Absalom God uses people His wonders to perform according to His Word.
Help me in all happenings Lord to see You speaking always as I live for You.

    Prayer:
Open my ears and eyes and mouth Lord for Your service.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat)
    The right word to say,
    the best move to make
Who’s in need of a helping hand
For Your perfect ways are worthy of praise
I delight just to do Your plan
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat to beginning)
Help me to know Your will
Help me to know Your will
