  1. Observations:
    Favoritism of the father to Joseph creates envy. And with the dreams the relationship grew with jealousy.
    The ‘killing’ of Joseph by his brothers to the Midianites.
    The deceiving of Jacob by his sons.
    The Lord was with Joseph and even his master saw that the Lord was with him. Even while in prison, the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. And Joseph knew this as he stated that the interpretations of the dreams also belong to God. God speaks to people in various ways so that they may know His will.
    Joseph is put in charge of all of Egypt.
    God’s word comes to pass through the famine and the brothers telling the truth. Israel becoming a great people in the land. God continues to work in mysterious ways – ways that are not understood at the time but in hindsight –

    Applications:
    Where will I see God this day? In all the activities of the day do I look for the hand of God that He is with me? Time and time again in the reading it stated that the Lord was present and those around also saw that presence. Wow! In my living for Jesus in all I do and say do others see Christ Jesus in me? Do I radiate the light I have – the Light of Jesus Christ in all my doings – in the good times and in the bad times – I rely must rely on the Lord to carry me through. I am His hands, His feet, His voice, His champion. Not my will but Yours O Lord.

    Prayer:
    Lord, make me a channel of Your peace this day. Lead me and guide me in all I do and say. May this light of mine burn brightly for You today and always so others see You in me. Help me to be a living letter. Help me to stand up for Jesus. Help me to do Your will this day. Help me to see You in all I do and say.

    God moves in a mysterious way
    His wonders to perform;
    He plants His footsteps in the sea
    And rides upon the storm.

    Deep in unfathomable mines
    Of never failing skill
    He treasures up His bright designs
    And works His sov’reign will.

    Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
    The clouds ye so much dread
    Are big with mercy and shall break
    In blessings on your head.

    Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
    But trust Him for His grace;
    Behind a frowning providence
    He hides a smiling face.

    His purposes will ripen fast,
    Unfolding every hour;
    The bud may have a bitter taste,
    But sweet will be the flow’r.

    Blind unbelief is sure to err
    And scan His work in vain;
    God is His own interpreter,
    And He will make it plain.
