Sep 25 — Genesis 41:25-40

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 41:25-40

OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
God does not reveal Himself to Pharoah through the dream, He reveals His purpose. Joseph reveals God through his interpretation. Although Pharoah does not understand (he thinks Joseph has the spirit of the gods), he listens. Joseph makes the most of this opportunity to direct honour to God, and God uses this opportunity to bring honour to Joseph. This passage intrigues me, as I sit here in Haiti, wondering how God could speak to the President Preval, guiding him to lead in the best interests of this nation. And who are the Joseph’s who are directing him to God?

God’s work with Pharoah was also for the broader benefit of the neighbouring nations, and also His covenant people. Somehow Haiti also fits into this, and God is (I am certain) communicating with Preval, as with all governing leaders. We need to pray for ears that listen, for hearts that seek, and for hands that obey.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray for President Preval, that You would speak to his heart and guide him along a path of justice and truth. And I pray for the many Joseph’s, also those in prison, that they will be prepared to speak for You! Amen.

  1. Every day is the Lord’s day. The Lord our God supplies all of our needs. The labours of our hands at times are plentiful and other times are little. Yet I must not worry about tomorrow because as the Lord cares for the birds, He also cares for me. I must be able to see His goodness in times of plentify AND I must be able to see His goodness in times of want. I need to be walking with my Saviour everyday, always. My help comes from the Lord. He is my Provider! He gives all that I need to serve Him and then some!

Joseph was the light that pharoah needed to run the affairs of the country. As the leader of the nations go, so go the people. The eyes of pharoah saw the spirit of God at work in Joseph and his heart was not hardened. Therefore he made Joseph in charge of the kingdom. Pharoah ‘surrounded’ himself , put his trust in only what was good! The leaders of the world today also need to have the eyes that see and the ears that hear the Word of the Lord speaking to them through His servants. How do I , how do we as Christians give input for the nations of the world whether it be Haiti, or the US, or Canada or Iraq or . . . For these I must pray. The Lord continues to call the cities, the countries to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly.

Lord, may men of discernment, men filled with Your Spirit be called to also help lead the nations of the world.

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion, in thy loving care.
Help us to find, O God, in thee,
    A lasting rich reward.
As waiting for the better day,
    We ever stand on guard.
God keep our land, glorious and free.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
