SCRIPTURE: Genesis 41:1-24
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
Just like Daniel, God is at work behind the scenes beyond His people, among the Babylonians and the Egyptians. Through dreams, and a host of other means, God is communicating (think of the wise men and the star). But the ultimate meaning of these messages is not understood, and the peoples of the world are looking for the answers. The task of God’s people (including the New Testament followers of Jesus) is to direct people to God (not to themselves) and reveal to them His hand and His purpose.
As we stand before people today, will be shine His light on current events, will we interpret God’s ongoing communication for them, showing them through whatever is going on in their lives that God is calling them, challenging them, testing them, inviting them? Our role is not to judge people, but to direct them to the Judge. Our role is to love, to serve, and to humbly witness to the Lordship of Jesus. Today He will give me (us) an opportunity to witness for him. What will I say?
PRAYER:
Lord, everyday I have opportunity to draw peoples’ attention to You. But I hesitate. Help me to learn the skill of gentle, loving witnessing, to share my hope with gentleness and respect. Amen.
How does the Lord speak to me? How is the Lord talking to me so that I do His will? I need to listen to Hos Word. I need to be receptive to whatever ways He may cimmunicate with me. I need to be able to Jesus also today. I need to learn that I will be practising hospitality to His people also today – think of Abraham.
I need to see His daily hand in my affairs today. I need to see how the Lord is my work today. In pharoah’s dream, the years of plenty were just lost – swallowed up – by the years of famine. Yet God is the Provider still, He is the Bread of Life and He continues to feed me. I need to be fed on the Bread that gives me eternal life. That must be seen by others. My reason for living is for the Lord. I must be a living letter so others are able to see the Light source in me.
Lord, speak to me that I may speak
In living echoes of Thy tone;
As Thou has sought, so let me seek
Thine erring children lost and lone.
O lead me, Lord, that I may lead
The wandering and the wavering feet;
O feed me, Lord, that I may feed
Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.
O strengthen me, that while I stand
Firm on the rock, and strong in Thee,
I may stretch out a loving hand
To wrestlers with the troubled sea.
O teach me, Lord, that I may teach
The precious things Thou dost impart;
And wing my words, that they may reach
The hidden depths of many a heart.
