Aug 7 — Daniel 3:19-30

SCRIPTURE: Daniel 3:19-30

OBSERVATION:
The fury of the world may be unleashed against those who choose to be loyal to the Lord. The heat of the fire kills the soldiers who bring them, but they don’t even smell like fire/smoke. God waits until the last possible moment, until they are in the fire. No doubt they had given up hope of survival, yet the Lord shows up in the fire. Their loyalty ultimately pays off, and it leads the king to realize that their God is the ‘most high’ God, even over his god.

APPLICATION:
What prevents me from risking my position or my reputation, certainly not fear of death. How committed am I to living for Jesus, for joining Him in His mission in the world. I avoid conflict, I hesitate to reveal my faith. You provide opportunities for me to serve people for You, but I keep myself busy, preoccupied, distracted. This passage assures me that the Lord will use my loyalty, whether I survive or not, to bring honour to Him (Philippians 1:20).

PRAYER:
Lord, forgive me for holding back. Remind me again about what it means to follow You in the world, and help me renew my commitment to You. Amen.
