July 17 — Acts 12:1-17

SCRIPTURE: Acts 12:1-17

OBSERVATION:
The Lord is able to dramatically intervene in the crises of His followers (Peter), but He will not do it all the time (James). He often waits to the last minute to step in (night before trial). These believers show us how hard it really is to trust the Lord for what we pray for (you’re out of your mind).

APPLICATION:
Can I surrender to the Lord’s purpose when one person dies and another is miraculously healed? Do my doubts (and the long waiting time before I see Him act) keep me from praying at all? If I heard about an amazing miracle, my first reaction would also be, ”you’re out of your mind”. Through all that happens, it is His purpose that ultimately counts, He knows what He is doing, and why!

PRAYER:
Lord, help me again to surrender to Your greatness, to believe in Your power to help me, and to trust in Your purposes at work in/around/through me. Amen.
