biblical universalism

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 145
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. [Psalm 145:9]
There is a universal message in the bible: God created everything and everyone, He loves everything and everyone, He is Lord of everything and everyone and He is good to everything and everyone!
This is how I see biblical universalism.
Sadly, not everyone accepts His universal leadership or love.
They do not delight in a greatness and goodness of God, as David does here.
Instead, they defy God and His will, and choose to love and lead themselves.

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. [Matthew 5:44-45]
The greatness of God is not only seen in His majesty and glory, but also in His mercy and compassion, especially on those who reject and defy Him.
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. [Psalm 145:8]
If this were not true, then none of us would be here.
And the wicked would not continue to exist… nor would we.
All of us, from the least to the greatest, is guilty of resisting and defying God.
If God treated us as our sins deserve, we would be in trouble.
But thankfully, the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. [Psalm 145:8]
He provides the sun and the rain, oxygen, opportunities to live and work and socialize, He gives us the gifts and resources needed to live in His world – whether we deserve it or not, the righteous and the unrighteous.

Does this mean everyone will be saved?
Apparently not, since then bible is very clear that there will be a final judgment and separation between the righteous and the unrighteous.
But those who are not saved will not be rejected because God failed to love them.
It will be because they failed to receive God’s love, they refused His blessing and compassion.
God’s love is universal, and His anger is slow, but one day He will finally give people what they want.
Those that absolutely refuse Him and His love will get what they desire – an eternity without Him and His love.

Today is a day of grace, an opportunity to receive God’s blessing and mercy.
David is urging us to join him in praise God, for His greatness and goodness.
Today, my main focus is on His goodness, His compassion and mercy to me, to all.
The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. [Psalm 145:9]

PRAYER:
Lord, impress this message deep in my soul, so that no matter what happens, I am rooted in this amazing, wonderful truth.
