Love is our superpower!

Posted on April 4, 2025April 11, 2025 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Christians often use this verse to make bold claims or expectations.
And when it doesn’t work, they blame you not having enough faith.
The issue is not the strength of our faith, but who/what we have faith in.
Having faith in a bottle of ketchup, no matter how strong, is still stupid.
Having faith in a Jesus that gives Ferraris to all who believe in stupid.
Our faith needs to be in Who Jesus is, what Jesus represents.
Jesus is not offering miracle power to all who believe enough.
The people, and the disciples, were focused on the miracles.
They were motivated by power, by self-interest, by getting something.
Those who see the ‘nothing impossible’ for selfish purposes miss the point.
Jesus represents mercy, compassion, humility, grace… the cross.
Those who join Jesus in humility, grace, mercy compassion can do the impossible.
With God’s help, they can overcome evil, set captives free, heal the sick.
Nothing will be impossible for those devoted to loving and serving others!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, forgive us for turning this promise into a self-help principle. Nothing can stop the power of your love in blessing others, not even the cross, or persecution, or sickness, or death.

think about it!

Salvation may be personal, but it is never private. We have been saved to serve.
