PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 6
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
Jesus urges his followers not to worry about food or drink or clothes.
These are basic necessities, representing what we need to survive.
His reason is because there is a God that cares about us.
In this fallen world, we have lost this assurance.
Alienated from God, we fear that God is not there, or is against us.
But Jesus anchors his confidence and ours in this: God values you!
God loves and cares for his creation – how much more you, as children.
Life in this world makes it easy to forget, and hard to remember.
Satan works hard to make us think God isn’t there, or doesn’t care.
I am told that bad news spreads quicker and easier than good news.
For that reason we need to repeat this good news often.
I am valuable to God, I am God’s precious child, God cares for me.
Say it again and again, because the opposite idea is so strong.
Only God, not worry, can guarantee my future – and God is for me!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you lived with this confidence (faith) in God. Help me to hang on to this confidence with you – I am valuable to God, God will give me what I need!
