Putting up walls and barriers?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 19:45-48

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“My house will be a house of prayer’…” (Luke 19:46)
God did not live in the temple as a house.
But it did symbolically remind the people God was with them.
Prayer is more than talking to God, it is our whole relationship.
It is how we live and fellowship with God, with or without words.
This is what the temple was meant to show – our fellowship with God.
The religious leaders put up walls between God and the people.
They were putting a price on getting in, making it hard to get in.
We no longer need a temple; Jesus is our ‘meeting place’.
Jesus is God’s open door to his heart, inviting us all in.
As those who know Jesus, are we as eager to let people in?
Or do we put up walls and barriers, demanding a price to get in?
If Jesus lets us into God’s house, he can let anyone in.
Anyone who wants to receive and live in his love is welcome.
The only ones he drives out are the ones that make it hard for others.
PRAYER
Lord, I love with you and you live with me. Help me not to stand in the way of others experiencing this amazing blessing.

  1. My house will be a house of prayer”. If I am to be a temple for the Lord Jesus – I will need to be a house of prayer as well. Not only as I walk – let me walk with Jesus – but also as I spend time alone – let me commune with you Lord. Help me to open up in prayer to let you guide my thoughts and not let the cares of this world or its distractions draw me away – things that rob me from my quiet prayer to you! Yes Lord, let me be a house of prayer!

  2. Open doors.
    As Jesus welcomed the little children to come unto Him, so too He welcomes all who desire to come unto Him. Do not hinder those who desire to come as did the religious leaders of His day. Be a stepping stone and not a stumbling block. Welcome all who desire to be with Him and share His love through you. Be a channel of His peace.

    1 Make me a channel of your peace:
    Where there is hatred, let me bring your love;
    where there is injury, your healing power,
    and where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

    2 Make me a channel of your peace:
    where there’s despair in life let me bring hope;
    Where there is darkness, only light,
    and where there’s sadness, ever joy.

    3 O, Spirit, grant that I may never seek
    so much to be consoled as to console,
    to be understood as to understand,
    to be loved as to love with all my soul.

    4 Make me a channel of your peace:
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    in giving to all that we receive,
    and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
